I have been working with Macs for 12+ years. I started when I was a student at Calvin College, now Calvin University, as the Assistant Mac Systems Engineer. We were using Absolute Manage LanREV to manage the Macs. I recall building images with a terminal command and a folder structure on how to build the device, man how times have changed. I also worked for a Mac centric MSP where we used DeployStudio and LanREV to manage the devices
I then worked for 4 years at a private school in Grand Rapids, MI overseeing 2000 devices using Jamf Pro. I worked to keep the devices updated and compliant and implemented NoMAD and NoMAD Login as well as Snipe-IT asset management.
I then ran my own MSP where I used Munki, Mosyle, Jamf Now, Jamf School, and just about any other MDM out there. We built custom solutions for each company managing Macs, iPads, Apple TV’s and sadly a few Windows machines. I closed my MSP and worked for Jamf as a Technical Support Specialist and then promoted to a Technical Support Engineer. I now work for a cyber insurance company as a IT Engineer where we are building custom solutions with Jamf Pro, Okta Workflows, and a few other tools. I’ll be writing about many about many of our custom solutions.
